Stupid Quiz, I Want To Be A Dragon!

You Are a Mermaid

You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you’re flakier than you actually are.
While your head is often in the clouds, you’ll always come back to earth to help someone in need.
Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational.
You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

I found this at Raging Rainbows

This Is A Post About Many Things, Most Unrelated

The heat was terrible today, and in case you missed the forecast post before this, it’s only going to get worse the next two days. The heat loves to trigger my migraines, I’ve been trying to stay inside as much as possible, except when walking the dogs.

Speaking of the dogs, the lawn people cut the grass today. Well let me rephrase that, they cut the grass in the fields surrounding the house where I walk the dogs. I feel I need to get a lawnmower that collects the grass clippings and cut it all myself. They use mowers that just spray the grass back out onto the lawn and such. To my dogs this is better than crack. As long as the grass is attached to the ground they could care less. However if it’s in little clumps just shot out from the lawnmower then it becomes the tastiest thing in the world. I don’t get it. For the next week walking them will be a chore, they will want to just eat as much grass as they can. The fact that we aren’t going to get any rain soon will make it worse, the grass will just dry into little hard lumps and stick around even longer. Grrrr!

Today I officially broke a new weight record, and not in a good way. To celebrate me weighing more than I ever have in my entire life I took my fat ass not to the gym, but to Fuddruckers :(. Not exactly smart I know. I figure tomorrow is day 1 of a new month, good place to start with a new diet and exercise. I have to do this otherwise I know one day in the near future I’ll be on Jerry Springer or Maury Povich saying “I don’t know how is happened? I just like lounging on the couch, watching scary movies from Blockbuster and eating my pizza or burger. Then one day I was too fat to get off the couch and I’ve been stuck here ever since.”

Okay I may have exaggerated a bit there πŸ™‚ Of course the real challenge will be FINDING time to actually exercise. Once I do the soap pages and then enough school work for the day, the day is over. Yes, getting to the gym is not going to be easy. I may have to do something I dread, start jogging! I’d rather Rollerblade, but I don’t feel the sidewalks up and down my road give enough room for a full Rollerblade workout. We shall see.

Totally switching topics, the 2006 Video Music Award Nominations were released today. For the first time in years I may bother to watch them. Madonna and The Chili Peppers got noms in almost every major category. I thought MTV had forgotten who they were a long time ago in favor of artists who put out one big song and are never seen again, to be replaced by the next TRL “it” band. Better yet, Mariah Carey isn’t nominated for ANYTHING for a change.

Hot Stuff Baby

Uhg, as if I thought the heat couldn’t get worse! This is the actual heat, not what it’s going to feel like. They are saying 110 and 114 with the heat index.

I have more to rant and ramble about later. There is something I really want to talk about . . . but I can’t . . . cause I don’t know who may be reading . . .

Friday Five: July 28th, 2006

Decided to try and get back into the Friday Five, inspired by my participating in Thursday Thirteen πŸ™‚ Now if I could only get back into Photo Friday Anyways, here are this week’s questions, a few days late.

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
Yes, Robert and Dustin are both family names. Rather than explain it, just visit my About Me page and scroll to the bottom, I have photos!

2. Do you have your children’s names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
Um, yeah no. When I was little did name my Cabbage Patch Kids Matt and Chris though, if that counts.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
Um, I would have to ask my mom. All I know is my parents used to joke they were going to name me Obadiah Farquhuar.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
When I was little I went through a phase of signing cards Dustin “Andrew” Cushman. I liked the name Andrew, I hated the name Robert. I don’t know why I picked it.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
Yeah, Justin. It’s one thing to hear my name wrong in an introduction and call me Justin, but to type it to me in an email? I don’t get that.

Upgrades, Errors, Shoutbox Oh My!

I attempted to upgrade my blog software this morning, another headache! I tried to do it the quick way, cheaters never win! Anyways it should be back. If anyone tried to get to it during the upgrade you may have seen the wrong page, an error page, or a page telling you your IP was banned. Sorry!

As for the shoutbox, I’ve located the spammers as being from two networks, one in Amsterdam and one in Asia. Since I’m pretty sure nobody in those countries is actually probably reading the blog, and because I am pretty sure these are corporate networks doing this, I’m banning their IPs one by one (fun!) If you get banned from the blog it takes you to a page that says you’ve been banned, gives you your IP and says if you think this has been in error to email me (my email is on the banned page). If you get the page please do email me πŸ˜›

If this starts happening I’ll have to make people register to use the shoutbox probably (which is why I had to upgrade the software in the first place this morning!)

Still Waiting For The Fun To Begin!

So last night I did go to Fados and had a yummy burger, too full for the bread pudding. I met Jen and her new beau, Kellie wasn’t feeling up to coming out. It was kinda odd it just being me, Jen and the new guy. It looks like we are all (Kellie and others) planning a movie night on Friday.

After Fados we planned to go to South Street, but Jen decided we should stop into Bump! for a martini . . . or four! Mary met up with us there, Jen ended up decided to call it a night so she and her beau headed out. Unfortunately Mary and I should have done the same. We went to Tavern, where it was packed because of some softball party, and then to Woodies, which wasn’t packed but was not fun at all. I don’t even want to rehash it, the night is best summed up by Mary shoving some drunk guy away from her near the end of the evening (for us) and us deciding we were done.

I don’t know what has happened to the gaybourhood, it used to be fun, now it’s kinda not. I know the crime rate in Philly is going up, and there were lots of seedy people hanging around outside the clubs, as well as a large police presence. I just don’t know, it’s unfortunate and sad.

Probably the best part of the evening was finally, after months, running into musicguy from Raging Rainbows.

TGIF!

Lets all sing the ABC TGIF Song in our heads now! This evening/afternoon I head over to Philly where the fun is set to begin (I hope?). I’m meeting Jen and Kellie for dinner, I am also going to meet Jen’s new boy (Kellie has met him already, I haven’t). It should be a treat and hopefully the three of us together won’t completely chase him away. I’m still remembering how we somewhat ignored the last one when we were together . . . . We are meeting at Fados, which is an Irish Pub in the city. Hmm, that could be too much information, oh well hopefully I won’t be stalked! They have wicked good burgers so I can’t wait to get one. I think they have bread pudding for dessert too, so maybe I can make room for that as well (never mind the diet I’m supposed to be on, make that NEED to be on at this point). Of course Fados could be jammed packed, which it normally is on Fridays, which means we’ll have to go down the street to the Fox and Hound. Damn, please come stalk me tonight!. They are equally as good and they have a giant drink menu πŸ™‚ Mary is then coming out to meet me, this is when the usual dancing portion of the evening begins. Tavern on Camac, 12th Air Command and Woodies could all be on the menu. Please don’t kill me! Emily is also going to try to come out if the rain stays away, which it is looking like it might at this point. If the party is ruined we know to “Blame It On The Rain, Yeah Yeah.” Hopefully it will be fun filled, and I hope all you guys and gals have something fun planned for Friday or the weekend.

PS I’ll try and take some photos of the pets this weekend, after the dogs get a bath though!

It

We got hit with a MAJOR lightening storm here in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area tonight. Actually the sucker is still going on. It hasn’t really rain, it is just giving us a light show for about 2+ hours now. Here are two videos I took of it.

The first video, which I took down the road from my house. The loud whooshing is the cars going by on the road. My house is literally between where I’m oscillating back and forth.

The second video is actually right outside my back porch. Instead of the cars going by you get to listen to the insane bugs πŸ™‚

Right now it is getting worse actually, and there is a hell of a lot of thunder. Too bad I didn’t make the videos now!

Embarrassing Music Admission

I LOVED Milli Vanilli!

Um though I have to say what is with the constant rubbing of the noses? Did the run out of coke? Also how did I miss the photo of Di and Charles?

Those boys can dance! I need to remember those moves for Friday night (kidding)
