Spiders and Sickness

Spider On The Porch So the spider came back tonight to spin his web on the front porch. I tried to take a photo of him and the web, but it was a bit hard. The web spans across the front steps of the porch, it’s huge. The spider isn’t so big, not as big as some of the ones from last year. They were huge suckers. Oh about the front door, the BF was stripping it to repaint it and well never finished it. That’s why it looks the way it does. Yeah he really needs to finish doing whatever he planned to do to it, but probably won’t till the winter.

The BF is now sick sick sick with my cold. He is in bed, slathered up with vicks. So much so that I can smell it as I go up the steps! Hopefully he’ll be recovered by this weekend when Keith comes, but somehow I doubt it. Kinda sucks to have Keith coming up when he’s sick and I’ve got my toe malady. The toe actually is much better today and seems to actually be healing. I’m crossing my fingers that the nail will hang on.

Damn You Fergaliscious!

The past few days it seems every time I got into the car I would hear this song on the radio “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” I had no idea who sang it, but I really liked it. I still have a iTunes gift card from Xmas to use, I thought “Hey I found something to buy!” Well tonight I finally bothered to google it to find out who it was. Damnit! It’s fricken Fergie! I hate her! Don’t you hate it when you hear a song you like, have no idea who sings it, then when you find out you are revolted that you liked it? Grrrrrr!

Anyways here’s the youtube video for those who have never heard it.

Call The Doctor Quick Quick Quick!

So we headed to the doctor tonight. The BF came with, because if the nail was being pulled off, I might not be wanting to drive myself home afterwards (especially if there was fainting involved). Also my doc is the BF’s doc, and he loves loves loves him. The doctor loves to talk, and most of the appointment I sat there while they gossiped and gabbed! The doctor wants us all to go out to dinner and meet his partner (doc is gay). He said this before in the early summer to the BF, but it never happened. I don’t know if it will, but it would be an interesting night out for sure! Plus it would be good for the BF to get out and make new friends, cause he doesn’t have any outside of work anymore. Honestly I guess I could beef up my friend roster too with so many of mine having moved away over the past 2 years.

Anyways, he didn’t pull the nail off. The nail will probably be falling off though, which I knew. Also the fact that it’s bleeding is apparently good, the blood isn’t being trapped underneath the nail. If that had happened then they would have had to drill a hole in the nail to release the pressure! Ew! It’s not infected, if I see signs of infection or red streaks around it, I need to call back immediately. Otherwise I guess I just have to sit around and wait for the nail to fall off. Fun!

So Gross!

So last night my toe was having issues, it basically wouldn’t stop leaking blood. Band-aids were pointless because the pressure of them just caused it to bleed and soak the band-aid. I couldn’t go to bed with it uncovered as I risked destroying the sheets should it bleed everywhere. I settled on a liquid bandage, which did the trick.

Unfortunately I learned today this might not have been the best idea. The liquid bandage, shall we say, trapped everything in the toe. Needless to say when I removed the liquid bandage and applied a bit of pressure to nail, a fountain of blood erupted from my toe. It was nasty as you can imagine. I had considered taking a picture of my toe and posting it, but I think I’ve disgusted you as is.

Tomorrow I am calling the doctor in the morning to make sure I don’t need to be worried about infection and fungus setting in. I’m sure they’ll want me to come in. My friend Shannan has already prepared me for the worst, if they think the nail will fall off eventually they will want to pull it out . . . . with pliers! Just kill me now.

I did not clean any rooms in the house today. I took the day off. I shall recommence with the cleaning of the downstairs guest bedroom tomorrow, followed by the living room areas and finally the upstairs guest bedroom. Before Keith comes this weekend I’ll do a final vacuum and swiffer the floors. All should be clean by then. Oh I’ve forgotten the bathroom, damn!

In other news, the giant tree spiders have returned. Every year in the late summer early fall the house is set upon by these giant spiders. They especially like coming out after storms or on humid nights. They spin these giant webs in the trees around the house, which make walking the dogs oh so fun should you walk into one of them. These webs reach from the lowest tree branches to the ground, it’s insane. Right now one has spun a web across the entire front steps of the porch between the openings of the porch railing. I shall try and photograph them if I get a chance.

My Inner Muppet

Your Score: Kermit the Frog

You scored 54% Organization, 56% abstract, and 74% extroverted!

This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are mostly organized, both concrete and abstract, and more extroverted.

Here is why are you Kermit the Frog.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren’t totally obsessed with neatness though. Kermit is also reasonably tidy. He’ll even dress up for interviews.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Kermit spends a lot of his time as a reporter collecting facts, but he is also the author of the dreamy song “The Rainbow Connection.” You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren’t afraid to explore your dreams and desires… within limits of course.

You are both extroverts. Kermit gets along with everyone. Sure a few folks annoy him, but that’s just because they are annoying. Kermit likes to meet new people when he does his job as a street reporter. You definitely enjoy the company of others, and you don’t have problems meeting new people… in fact you probably look forward to it. You are willing to take charge when necessary or work as part of a team.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Kermit starred on Sesame Street years before The Muppet Show.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Snuffleupagus
Ernie
Elmo
Cookie Monster
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley
Bert

Hey, don’t be a grouch! If you liked the test, let others know by rating it below. Feel free to vote for your favorite character too.

ET Says OUCH!

So of course my maladies travel in pairs. I am finally getting over my cold when disaster struck. In our hall closet we have a step ladder hanging on the door. I took it out to do cleaning today, put it back, but apparently didn’t hang it up well enough. I went back to the closet later to get the small vacuum out to do dusting and the ladder fell . . . . . right onto my big toe. I screamed like my toe had been cut off. It’s been bleeding and throbbing for a few hours now. Of course the idiot I am, I continued to clean the kitchen after I cleaned it up. That probably hasn’t helped. I need to lay down and elevate it. I don’t think the toe is broken, but I have a bad feeling the nail may be a goner in a few days. I’m not a happy camper tonight. At least “Evita” is on TV so I have something to listen to.

Storms Rolling In

As I write this there is a lightening storm going on outside. Storms are rolling in, it looks like we are in for a wet wet weekend.

I am finally starting to overcome this nasty head cold I have. Amen and hallelujah!

Next weekend is when Keith comes. It was my plan to just take one day and clean the hell out of this house. I’m rethinking that now. I might just take a day and do each room really well.

I’m trying to plan activities for us to do, I really don’t know what though. I told him I hope he doesn’t mind chilling, watching TV and movies, maybe just going out to dinner and the movies one night. He seems okay with it. There are a million summer movies I have yet to get to still (Transformers, Harry Potter)

We’ll probably play a lot of Nintendo Wii 🙂

Otherwise not much else to really blog about I’m afraid. I have a weekend of work to look forward to, always fun. I also have a million and one little projects going on in my head. I hope to reveal one or two of them in the near future 🙂

Finished!

Well tonight I finally finished “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” I am not going to spoil it for those who haven’t finished it. I’ve been trying to finish it as quick as I could as I’ve been afraid I’d go on a blog or go into a chat room and get it spoiled for me.

I’m now left with that Christmas is over feeling, but you know that Christmas isn’t going to come around again this time next year. Will JK abandon the universe of Hogwarts forever? Or will she maybe resurrect it after a few years vacation? Who knows! It’s not like she’s going to ever be hurting for money 🙂

Weight Loss Through Sickness

One good thing about being sick, you lose weight! I’ve lost a good deal too. Now once I’m better I just have to work to keep it off 🙂 This is a very odd cold I’ve contracted. My sore throat is gone and I’m really not stuffed up as much anymore, but my head and ears are still completely plugged up. That’s the worse part too, because it makes me dizzy and I have to lay down. Staring at the white PC screen also is NOT fun. I do have an appetite, but eating makes me feel worse! Oh well. If I’m not better by Thursday I’m calling the doctor. I was going to call him tomorrow, but the old lady at the farm said “It can take 2 weeks to get rid of a cold!”

I’m half way through Harry Potter. Going to get cracking on it a bit more tonight. We have yet to actually see the current movie in the theaters either. I looked up the times and told the BF we need to try and do it this week, which basically leaves tomorrow or Thursday. Friday is too close to the busy weekend and will be out, though Sunday night could be doable.

Light Blogging

Blogging has been light this week due to illness. I would love to hunt down the person on the plane who was sick and gave me this damn head cold. I’ve just taken my nightly dose of NyQuil to help me relax and get to sleep. I’m about to retire to the couch to read some Harry Potter before going to bed. I’m no where NEAR done, I really should have finished this sucked by now. Alas, the cold interfered with that too.

Fortunately Keith’s visit has been delayed till next weekend, rather than this weekend. I don’t think I would have been able to clean this house by this weekend given how I’m feeling. Again, I wish I could find the idiot who got on the plane sick and gave me this bug. It was probably that screaming and crying child . . . .
