Hot Pick Of The Week Beyotches!

My Singstar video for “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” by the Human League is currently at 4 1/2 stars and a hot pick of the week. Woohoo!

Looking Up?

Once again I apologize for neglecting the blog ๐Ÿ™‚ One day soon I won’t be so bad and will be blogging more. My TV blog is also feeling the neglect pain too. I’ve just been super swamped. Aside from working to finish this $@%@$%@#$ dissertation, I submitted an article to be published at the end of February (with my adviser), just finished a conference paper to give at the end of April, am for SOME reason entertaining submitting to another one or two conferences for later this year, and of course teaching two different classes has been an ass kicker.

The Drag Show last week was big fun. The best of the night was when this giagantress of a gurl performed Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” I mean she did the official video dance and everything! She got the whole bar singing too. The low point of the night were these trashy “Jersey Shore” girls who didn’t look old enough to even be in the bar and who almost started a fight with some other girls. I later heard one say “This is so much fun, but I think we might get kicked out soon.” I wanted to tell her “yeah and don’t come back!” They got way drunk and even disrupted Miss Lisa Lisa at one point, ruining one of her classic “This is a Christian show!” jokes. They got all “hey we aren’t Christian, we are Jewish!”
They just didn’t get it was not about religion, it was just funny. Sacrilege!

Since my last post it looks like a ray of sunshine has appeared. I appear to be teaching in the fall. I don’t recall being asked if I was available, but I have been so tired perhaps I somehow missed it. Perhaps it’s all a mistake as well. But my name is listed in the course schedule as an instructor for a class in the fall. At the moment, I’ll take it! I have been worried about what I’d be doing in the fall to be honest. I had planned to try and start job hunting this summer. I still will, but will probably take a part time gig if I can get one now.

On a final note, I’m off to the mid-west in May after the semester to see Heidi! That should bring lots of photos for a change, cause it’s someplace I’ve never been, so I’ll be taking photos like a Japanese tourist. I also am going to try my best to get to Williamsburg this summer since I didn’t last summer.

Crash

So I had hoped this weekend would bring fun story posts as well as pictures. It was Monster Mania here in Jersey, but alas there was no Monster Mania for me. The friends I made there who I usually hang out with decided to pass on this one, but hope to make it for the August one. The guest list was amazing, but honestly no one I was dying to meet. Okay maybe one or two. However without people to hang out with, I decided it wasn’t really that worth it. Plus I have this conference paper I am supposed to be working on.

Another reason that kept me away was the massive monsoon that hit us this weekend. Holy hell, perhaps when I said no more snow, I should have wished for no more precipitation. It was just non-stop rain and wind from Friday through Saturday. It’s still raining off and on and will through tomorrow. Of course our basement flooded and half of it is a nasty mess. It smells as well. Fun! It will take a week to dry out I’m sure.

This weather has just been a drain on me. My head has not been to happy with the sudden change outside. We went from lovely 60s and sun to RAIN. I’m also finally on spring break, so no work is knocking on my door. I basically just crashed this weekend and couldn’t seem to get in the mood to work on this paper. I have enough written to put it together, it’s just a matter of sitting down and forcing myself to do it. That will be tomorrow. More fun!

We got the bad news today that our awesome amazing doctor is fleeing from New Jersey. He, his partner and their kids are going to Massachusetts where they can be legally married. Thanks again New Jersey! You are now officially chasing qualified working professionals and tax payers out of the state. Meanwhile our new governor has also slashed the education budget to the point that every K-through-High School is faced with laying off numerous teachers and making larger classes. Hello, did nobody see the latest news specials that we are becoming the dumbest country in the Western world? The colleges are getting hit as well. This is not exactly the greatest position for me to be in right now. Do you want fries with that? Would you like to supersize your meal? …. Oh wait they don’t ask that anymore after the movie ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally, for a bit of sunshine . . . It looks like I’m doing the drag show on Thursday night hopefully, so I should have a fun photo post soon ๐Ÿ™‚ No I’m not in the drag show, I’m going to one. Just wanted to clarify that!

Yeah I know, it’s been awhile since I posted. Sorry about that! Like I said in my last post, I’ve been extremely busy right now. Plus with this last snow storm, I ended up with a cold. It had been awhile since I had one, I guess I was overdue. So that knocked me out for a week. I won’t lie, I enjoyed a few days on the couch doing nothing, but I now I have to catch up with some things.

I officially am over snow, at least for this year ๐Ÿ™‚ I still love snow, but we’ve seen enough. It can stay away until next Christmas. So rest assured, I will not be wishing for anymore snow this year.

Spring break is coming up and I am so looking forward to a week off of teaching and getting other stuff that needs to be done done. Also Monster Mania is coming up next weekend, which is always a blast. So hopefully I’ll have some photo posts to go up soon!

What else . . . oh we finally broke down and got cleaning ladies! They come every few weeks, but it’s been a help. They do a good job, and it means I don’t have to stress out over cleaning every weekend. More time for me to do what I have to get done done.

I guess that is about all the excitement going on right now. I might have to start doing various memes I used to do long ago like “Five on Friday” and “Photo Friday” to make sure I keep posting on the blog so people don’t think I’ve up and died on them.
