So last night I went to my friend Jen’s for her “5th of July Party.” In Philly there are fireworks on the 4th at the art museum area and then usually the next day (or weekend depending on the year) on the riverfront. They had a concert going with Philly’s own Boyz 2 Men playing. I did not go, but did hear them playing in the distance. We stayed at Jen’s where she has a rooftop deck on her building, but the party was mostly indoors thanks to the rain.

The party was fun and the fireworks were really good. Apparently not as good as the 4th’s the day before, which of course were said to be the best they’ve had in years. I remember being more impressed with their New Year’s fireworks a few years back than any of the ones I saw on the 4th there, which I always found odd.

My new earrings came. I love the teal ones, the green ones I’m not so sure about. They are a little lighter than I thought they would be. I’m thinking of putting in another order for some other colors, just so I have options 🙂 I got all 5 of these for what 2 would have cost in most of the stores around here, so it was a bargain for sure.

My weight loss seems to have stalled just when I was about to hit the 20 pound mark 🙁 I’m not sure what is going on. I have been actively doing the Podcast running program, so hopefully I’m just replacing fat with muscle. Up until now I’ve lost most of it through dieting and the occasional Wii Fit day. Numerous injuries to various body parts have kept me out of the gym. Speaking of the Podcast thing, I’m now on week 2, which I’ve already done twice. I’ll be on it all week as it’s much more difficult and I am in fact afraid to move onto week 3 at this point!

Finally I pulled out my “little black shirt.” Years ago my friend insisted I go shopping for cute little going-out outfit. I got a little black dressy polo shirt at Express and some cord-like jeans. When I recently went through years of clothes I didn’t wear anymore or I couldn’t fit into, I found the shirt. I found the jeans too, but I couldn’t part with the shirt. I told myself one day I’ll rock this again and look good in it. It’s one of those shirts that is unforgiving, even if you are only bloated. The jeans I didn’t think I had any chance of squeezing my butt into ever again, so I put them in the good-will bag. So the shirt is now hanging up in my room down here as a reminder of my goal. I actually put it on the other day and it does fit nicely, now I just want to fill it out with muscles tone 🙂 I want to wear it for my birthday in almost 2 months. I’ll also go shopping for some new jeans too around then, which I’m actually going to need. My current jeans and shorts are already sagging. Yippee! Most of my weight loss has been in my bahdunkadunk.

I leave you with a photo I took of the fireworks last night . . . .

  1. Amazed the fireworks went off with the rain—great picture. My daughter, her partner, and my four year old grandson went to DC for the fireworks—something I would enjoy–but I want a helicopter to drop me down and then pick me up—can’t handle huge crowds. So I sat in WV watching the DC fireworks on TV.

Congrats on the weight. I admire your will power considering your recent trips. Are you going to take a picture of you modeling the new earrings? Hint–hint!

  2. I had taken some pictures of the earrings lol, I’ll try and get better ones.

The DC fireworks are my faves. They are huge and going to the mall to see them is amazing, cause you can feel the vibrations of the explosions.

  3. It sounds like you’ve hit a plateau with the weight loss. Just keep doing what you’re doing, and you’ll push through it. And yeah, there’s probably a trade-off between fat and muscle right now. You’ll be super svelt in no time! :0)

  4. Hey, best of luck with the continued weight loss! good for u! i’ve hit a stall too, but i’m trying to mix things up and do different types of active activities to keep myself interested and also to work different parts of my body….

  5. Great photo of the fireworks. The white ones look like small flower blossoms and I love the blue streamer-effect ones.

Congrats on your weight loss. I’m sure if you keep working out hard and eating healthy, you’ll be down to your goal weight in no time. Now to get my own chunky butt back to the gym. Our gym is just really hot inside during the summer cause it had a wall of windows which get morning sun.

  6. Dude, you and I are in the same boat. My weightloss stalled around 15 – 16 lbs. But my pants DO fit better and things feel ‘thinner’. Hopefully its muscle developing given all my workouts.

And yeah, I only wii-fit every so often, because its mean to me.
