Sadly all obligations I have to the site have ended. I stayed on past when I was obligated to mainly out of concern and care for it, as it was my “baby.” However the point of selling was for me to be able essentially retire from the daily workings, the updates, the time consumption and the frustrations; to focus on school and moving on with my life. At this point my staying on as long as I have and any further is just defeating that purpose.

Open a new window,
Open a new door,
Travel a new highway,
That’s never been tried before;
Before you find you’re a dull fellow,
Punching the same clock,
Walking the same tight rope
As everyone on the block.
The fellow you ought to be is three dimensional,
Soaking up life down to your toes,
Whenever they say you’re slightly unconventional,
Just put your thumb up to your nose.
And show ’em how to dance to a new rhythm,
Whistle a new song,
Toast with a new vintage,
The fizz doesn’t fizz too long.
There’s only one way to make the bubbles stay,
Simply travel a new high way,
Dance to a new rhythm,
Whistle a new love song,
Toast with a new vintage,
Open a new window ev’ry day!

  1. Good for you Dustin! I know that this couldn’t have been easy, but it is time for you to start living your life for yourself and not worry about the soap pages! I look forward to hearing about your new and hopefully less stressful life:)

  2. Gosh Dustin, you’ve held the first place on my LINKS bar for ages!!! I for one will certainly miss your soapoperafan. Good luck in everything!

  3. Dustin, I don’t know what I will do without you. I read you every day on the soap sites, and I don’t even know where to go now. 🙁 Good luck with all you do.

  4. Dustin, I didn’t think I would write, but you can sure tell you are not writing for the days page any longer…its not the same at all…I will really miss it and all the fun things you did for the page that made it a daily trip for me. That said, what great courage you show for doing this. It had to be so time consuming; I hope you have more time for yourself and do many wonderful things. Just know that you will be missed in this area very much. Thanks so much for all the time you gave us.

  5. I’ve been checking all weekend for your special comments and when none appeared I figured that was the tough decision you had agonized about a week or so ago. You DID have the courage to follow your convictions! I’m sure it wasn’t easy—but you were being used and obviously abused. I applaud you and all that you have done—you are an excellent writer. Dustin, I’m going to miss your special touch on that site—not sure how much I’ll even click there. But I’m glad to still have your blog.

Have you considered posting a note on that site? I’m sure many don’t think to go to your other sites. After years of reading your Days page, I’ve just recently ventured here.

Now is the time to take a deep breath, pat yourself on the back, get that PhD completed, and move on to the next adventure.

A big thank you and best wishes,
    WV Nan

  6. Congratulations on making your decision! I’m sure it wasn’t easy – it’s never hard to move away from something that was a huge part of your life for so long. We will miss you there, but good luck!

  7. Dustin,
I have been going to your site for years!!! It is truly not the same. I will truly miss you.
    Best of luck!

  8. Dustin,
I just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work in bringing us your pages through the years. I haven’t actually gotten to watch a soap in years (except for the occasional sick day spent on the couch) but I haven’t skipped a single of your posts for a decade. Like many office dwellers out there, I “stop in to visit my friend Dustin” every morning at work to find out what’s going on in Salem and Harmony. Reading your “thoughts” has gotten me through countless Mondays. You’ve been a friend that I’ve always had through college and moves and job changes. I’ve worried about you when you had the flu or a migraine, I’ve envied you when you were on a cruise, I’ve cheered you on as you worked on papers and presentations. And now I just want you to know that I, and probably ALL of your loyal readers, understand and support your decision. You really have given us so much for so long, and we are grateful. All the best, Dustin!

  9. A heartfelt thanks from me too. I gave up watching Days but kept up with your updates and thoughts, and enjoyed every one of them! Congrats on finalizing it though, and as others have said, time to get on with your life! And yes, we still have your blog!!!!!! Hurrraaayyyyy!

  10. Thanks all.

I WOULD like to post something on the site about what is going on, but as I do not own it anymore I’m not sure if that is my place right now to do so.

  11. Dustin,
Thank you for all that you put into the Days site and thank goodness we can still keep tabs on you with this one. 🙂 I too will miss the other site and support your decision. Good Luck with your new adventures and wrapping up some old ones. Also, I love Auntie Mame!!!!!!!!!!!!! “LIVE, LIVE, LIVE….”

  12. Good luck Dustin! Will definitely miss your Days updates. REALLY miss you over at Soap Opera Fan. I’m giving up on She Knows and will start reading Barb’s Day Ahead. Hopefully, no drama there. Thanks for your dedication and humor for all these years!

  13. Dustin, I had to search to find out what happened to your site. I wish you would have at least posted a goodbye on your old site. I was beginning to worry about you. I know car accidents, explosions, etc…. happen. Glad to hear you are alive and well. Thank you for so many years of service to us Days watchers. I am now praying that someone else will take up the slack.

Take care and have a great life.

  14. The new owners will continue with the site, I think they are expected to start this week. I’m hoping an explination will be up today at some point.

  15. I’m glad the new owners will continue with the site, but so far there’s no explanation posted…and they can’t possibly live up to your “Thoughts on Days” column. I will miss it the most. Good luck on all your future endeavors…I’ll miss you!!!

  16. Dustin,
I’m going through serious withdrawal now that I can’t read your Thoughts on Days. Once you are through school might you consider adding something like that to your blog?? Thanks for all you have given us over the years. Best of luck in all you do.

  17. Dustin, you will be SO missed on SOF!!!! I can already tell you aren’t “in charge”… updates aren’t “on time”–I guess I need to get used to the new person’s schedule!

Good luck in your endeavors! don’t forget your fans!

  18. Dustin, you will be missed more than you can imagine. I have been an avid reader of your page for many years -way back when it was “Dustin’s Days of Our Live Page.” Your recaps have kept me up to date so that I could have my own busy life and still keep up on my beloved DOOL. You could say that I have been watching DOOL since it’s beginning…I turned 3 on the day the show debuted and my mom was hooked from the first day – My live got busy and there were period of time when watching was just not an option for me. Alas, I never lost interest and through your page I was able to keep up-to-date on the show in a condensed, but thoroughly enjoyable way. Thank you!!!

I wish you much success with your the completion of your Phd and with your future endeavors. Thank you for helping to make the Days of all of our Lives so much more enjoyable.

Thank you for all of your commitment for all of these years.
