SciFi/Fantasy Tree

We are having crappy weather here today, and it’s supposed to just get worse. Wet, gray and rainy. Merry Christmas! I guess I shouldn’t complain, others have a blizzard going on. Then again, I would love a white Christmas, even if it was a blizzard.

Thanks to the crummy light, the photos didn’t turn out too well. There aren’t enough lights (all blue) on the tree for it to show up well in the dark. Oh well. I only have one last tree left, and then to set up a million more nativities around the place πŸ™‚ I’m probably going to wrap presents tonight as well.

I Like Life, Life Likes Me

Not much to report on today. Decorated another tree. Now I just have a final little tree and the basement to do. I’ll tackle that tomorrow. I’ll post pictures as soon as I can take them. I keep meaning to walk around the block and take photos of some of the houses here that are completely over the top with their lights. Hopefully tomorrow πŸ™‚

Keith and I are planning to do something on Saturday. Maybe we’ll be brave and hit a mall early in the morning. There is still one mall in the area I haven’t hit this season. It is out of the way, but also the smallest mall in the area. They put a Cheesecake Factory in to try and spruce the traffic up there though. Yum yum, my favorite!

Since I’ve been home I’ve watched a few movies. So far I haven’t been too impressed.

“Little Miss Sunshine” – the end was hilarious. The rest I was like ehh. I didn’t get what the hype was about.

“Lady In The Water” – absolutely terrible. Don’t even bother with this one.

“My Super Ex-Girlfriend” – somewhat cute and a different spin on the superhero movie.

Oh in other news New Jersey passed Civil Unions in the state today. Not sure if I am up for a post on my thoughts on this one just yet.

Christmas Photos

We put up the main tree tonight. Ooooooh Aaaaaaaah

Yes it is a “faux” tree. The skirt hasn’t been added, and my mom says we will have to probably add more ornaments in the morning when we can look at it in the daylight.

At the moment I’m trying to decorate the second scifi/fantasy tree in the TV room. I’m not finding the motivation to do it.

Here is Princess sleeping on my new monkey slippers. She always sleeps with her face in my shoes. Animals love my shoes. We had a cat that would bury its head in my shoes and go to sleep. My feet must have a nice smell to them.

Home For The Holidays

Well I made it home safe and sound with the dogs. They love it here, they have a huge backyard to run around in, not chained to a leash. They stay outside more than they stay inside.

Tomorrow I’ll probably be decorating three, count them three trees of various sizes. Don’t worry, I’ll post pictures. I also need to get to a mall and shop. I should probably make that my priority. The closer it gets to Christmas the worse the crowds will get.

In other news, some guy has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo. Why? Because he damaged his property playing his new Wii, the wrist strap broke or something. Nintendo is voluntarily replacing the straps with stronger ones, if people so desire. He claims this proves the product is inferior and thus Nintendo owes him money for property damage, pain, suffering and so forth.

I say if you broke your TV, window or even yourself playing the Nintendo Wii, you are a moron. You don’t have to actually swing the remote with the force it takes to actually hit a home run for real. I have yet to have the “wiimote” fly out of my hand and half the time I don’t bother with the wrist strap. If I break a window with it I’d say “Doh! Guess I was playing too hard. I’m an idiot.” I guess I need to get in tune with the “It’s not my fault, I’m going to sue” side that everyone in America seems to have these days.

Heading Home

I was originally considering going home to Virginia on Wednesday, but I decided to just head home tomorrow. That gives me extra time to hit malls in Virginia this week and do last minute shopping. Something has to pop out! I actually have some ideas what I’d get if I could find it, but the problem is I can’t find what I’m looking for. I’m going to check the internet in a bit.

I was packing up things tonight and realized, I don’t know what kind of clothes to bring home! One day it’s freezing, the next you don’t even need a coat. I just threw a bunch of stuff in there. I doubt we will get a White Christmas this year. I am wondering if we will even see snow at all.

Here is hoping for some good Christmas cartoons and specials this weekend. For those disappointed with ABC Family this year, Cartoon Network often does some good specials the week and weekend before Christmas. They used to show classics like Pac Man’s Christmas πŸ™‚

Party Like It

Well after about 4 hours, I got the bare necessities back on the old Dell Laptop. It seems formatting the HD was in fact the way to go to solving the issues I was having with it. Of course I didn’t bother to put back on all the photos or the itunes music, as well as other stuff like the webcams (maybe tomorrow for the cams). Still, it seems to be working reasonably, that is what is important. I can probably use this as my travel computer from now on, so if anything happens to it I won’t cry too much (if it gets stolen from a hotel room, if airport security drops it, etc). I still have no idea what happened to it, other than a buildup of windows crud clogging it up.

I considered, for a second giving it to my BF to use at his work, but I’ve seen what happens to the PC’s at his place of business. A soda spill is nothing compared to their PCs! I’m tempted to use it as the webcam server, so I can just hook the cams up to it and leave it running all day long and not have it draining my main PC. Plus I can set up a chat server on it and more. Ahhhh, the possibilities really are endless! I can back up the dissertation to it as well (I can never have enough backups of my work around in my opinion, I’m paranoid about one of these files getting corrupted)

The only other thing to report on is New Years Eve. The list of all those who want to go out and do something in Philly seems to be expanding. I’m also trying to convince my friend Kieth to come up for New Years. Unfortunately all the new additions have no idea what to do. I tried looking at things tonight. I refuse to pay 75-150 dollars to get into some club/party for the night. If it sucks hardcore then there goes a lot of money. Frankly I don’t know what kind of party is worth that, especially when booze is not included and only a buffet is provided.

I’m tempted to just have people over to my place, but the problem is it’s far away for some, and some would have to rely on public transportation. I can easily have everything in shape to put several people up for the night. I don’t know how entertained people would be. I mean we could drink, I have fireworks, we can play Dance Dance Revolution and Nintendo Wii. That to me is fun, but might not be entertainment to others.

Whatever happens, I’ll be sure to have lots of photos of New Years πŸ™‚

As of today, I have 30 days to get into shape for the cruise. Ugh! I am going to try my best to be a 5-6 day a week vegetarian again. No more soda either, not even diet soda.

PS . . . Dear ABC Family Channel . . . Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is NOT a Christmas Movie!

Shopping! Let

I hit the malls again today. I blew off Philly, which I don’t know if that was a mistake or not honestly. There are fun stores there, I just couldn’t motivate to go. I hit a local mall and bought some new black slacks for myself to replace the very small and very tight suit pants that don’t fit. I can at least have comfortable dress attire for the cruise in January. I picked up a few on-sale shirts as well since I really am tired of wearing the same 4 long sleeve shirts over and over again. I do have more, they are more dress up and I only wear them when I go out.

Alas, still no real good gift ideas for the BF. Hopefully something in Virginia will pop-out at me at a mall down there.

PC Updates

The new PC, sniff sniff, made it to the service center. They are saying the day after Christmas I should get it back. That’s a lot better than sometime in January. I’ve been spending today backing up everything up off my old Dell. I just reformatted the HD and returned it to like when I first got it. So far so good, no slow loading issues at all. Of course I have to load everything onto it again, which may make the issues come back. We shall see I guess.

It

I went out to try and Christmas shop to day. I have finished up for everyone but the BF. Still need some more things for him. I’m heading to Philly tomorrow to shop around there and look at some of the unique stores they have. Maybe I’ll see something that will catch my eye.

I had dinner with a friend in Philly last night then hung out at a swanky bar for a bit and we caught up. It was nice, but everything was dead dead dead. I guess everyone was at holiday parties or something. By time I got home my head hurt and I didn’t feel like making a blog post. I went to bed by 11pmish, which is very unusual for me.

On the way home on the train I got to look at all the lovely, as well as not so lovely, Christmas lights on houses. I really don’t know what goes through some people’s heads. It is not okay to decorate your house in lights and have one little strand on one section of your house blink on and off. Your tacky Christmas lights make baby Jesus cry!

Two more pieces to the world’s largest nativity came today. I added them to the already enormous collection.
