Well after about 4 hours, I got the bare necessities back on the old Dell Laptop. It seems formatting the HD was in fact the way to go to solving the issues I was having with it. Of course I didn’t bother to put back on all the photos or the itunes music, as well as other stuff like the webcams (maybe tomorrow for the cams). Still, it seems to be working reasonably, that is what is important. I can probably use this as my travel computer from now on, so if anything happens to it I won’t cry too much (if it gets stolen from a hotel room, if airport security drops it, etc). I still have no idea what happened to it, other than a buildup of windows crud clogging it up.

I considered, for a second giving it to my BF to use at his work, but I’ve seen what happens to the PC’s at his place of business. A soda spill is nothing compared to their PCs! I’m tempted to use it as the webcam server, so I can just hook the cams up to it and leave it running all day long and not have it draining my main PC. Plus I can set up a chat server on it and more. Ahhhh, the possibilities really are endless! I can back up the dissertation to it as well (I can never have enough backups of my work around in my opinion, I’m paranoid about one of these files getting corrupted)

The only other thing to report on is New Years Eve. The list of all those who want to go out and do something in Philly seems to be expanding. I’m also trying to convince my friend Kieth to come up for New Years. Unfortunately all the new additions have no idea what to do. I tried looking at things tonight. I refuse to pay 75-150 dollars to get into some club/party for the night. If it sucks hardcore then there goes a lot of money. Frankly I don’t know what kind of party is worth that, especially when booze is not included and only a buffet is provided.

I’m tempted to just have people over to my place, but the problem is it’s far away for some, and some would have to rely on public transportation. I can easily have everything in shape to put several people up for the night. I don’t know how entertained people would be. I mean we could drink, I have fireworks, we can play Dance Dance Revolution and Nintendo Wii. That to me is fun, but might not be entertainment to others.

Whatever happens, I’ll be sure to have lots of photos of New Years 🙂

As of today, I have 30 days to get into shape for the cruise. Ugh! I am going to try my best to be a 5-6 day a week vegetarian again. No more soda either, not even diet soda.

PS . . . Dear ABC Family Channel . . . Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is NOT a Christmas Movie!

  1. Okay I’m staying with you for New Year’s. 🙂 I’m on my way. I want to play with the Wii. And I love Fireworks.

Also a note to ABC Family, Santa Baby was possibly one of the worst movies ever made for your network and that’s pretty bad considering some of the crap you put out.

  2. I also agree with you on the ABC Family not showing Christmas movies. They only showed Harry Potter (even though I like Harry Potter, but not a christmas movie) b/c they did have Christmas during the movie. Now come on, that doesn’t make a Christmas movie, does it? Hope you get your computer back soon.
