Nikko has just destroyed a month old pair of shoes I bought right before going on my cruise in January. I’m so angry! He has chewed on two other pairs of older tennis shoes I had as well. ARG! Now I have to take the time out this week to go shopping for shoes, WHICH I HATE TO DO! I can never find a pair of tennis shoes I like, it takes me a long time to make up my mind. For awhile I ordered them off line from an Airwalk website as I like them, but lately I’ve just been getting New Balances cause they are nice and inexpensive. I tend to wear out tennis shoes fast, so I’m not paying mucho moola for ugly brightly colored Nikes.

Not only do I need shoes, but some new casual/dressy slacks. I learned on my cruise that my old pair of off-white khakis no longer fit me. That was frustrating. I hate buying dress clothes as much as I hate shopping for shoes. However I need some nice non-jeans for upcoming vacations (Vegas, San Fran). I think i have enough nice button up shirts, I’ll have to check on that too.

  1. My husband wants a puppy, but we both work and don’t have a lot of time for one. The chewing and housebreaking are the two things I really don’t want to deal with right now. Thank you for confirming my point!

  2. Nikko is absolutely TERRIBLE! I didn’t have this much trouble with Princess. Not only does he destroy my shoes, he destroys any dog toy you give him. I mean rips it open and tears the stuffing out. Forget the rubber toys, he rips them apart too!

  3. I’m a lurker, and thought I’d offer some information about Nikko:

He’s a guy! In my opinion boy dogs tend to chew more than girls. Use positive discipline and make sure to show him what is “acceptable to chew – toys” and what isn’t – shoes. Not to mention keep EVERYTHING important put away until he outgrows what is usually a phaze. I’ve had a ton of experience in this area. (Also, don’t play favorites with both “kids” – that always backfires)

Keep up your good work on Days/Passions. And your Blog, We all need entertainment for otherwise boring lives.

  4. I know this is old but just started reading your blog…with cairns, nothing is sacred. i have a cairn and he chew everything as a puppy. they grow out of it
