I find myself paying more and more attention to cars nowadays because I’m in the market for one. I have never had my own car in my entire life believe it or not. With the second puppy on the way, I really can’t go back and forth from the Philly area to Virginia on the train anymore. I need a car to transport my baby/babies. My mom has a Camry and I really like it, it’s a good solid car and very dependable. I’ve also heard good things about Saturns and Subarus. If you have any car recommendations please let me know! I need all the help I can get as I know didly squat about cars!

  1. I used to own a Camery. I learned to drive on it, my brother learned to drive on it, and I later owned it. But the time it was 12 years old it was time to move on, but I had put almost 200,000 miles on it and it still ran. GREAT car. I now own a Scion XA and I LOVE my car. Made by Toyota (so you know it is going to be a GOOD car) and it gets GREAT gas milleage, about 35 per gallon average. Top it off, it is less than 15,000$ new. My mom owns the Honda Civic Hybrid which cost almost 10,000 more than my car did AND my car gets only about 5 miles per gallon less than her’s! I HIGHLY recomend a Scion (XA or XB, but since your pups are little they can do just fine in an XA) or a used Camery! Happy car hunting!

  2. I saw the commercial for scions the other day and wondered who made them 🙂

I will most likely go with a Toyota just because I know from experience they are trustworthy cars. Maybe I’ll go to the lot soon and look around, though I probably won’t buy something until they start advertising “2005 cars must go!” Maybe they already are and the 2006s are in?

  3. Hondas are also great cars, pretty much like the toyotas. They are all my aunt and uncle drive, my mom has a civic, I had a civic and now an odyssey. My husband drove his accord for 10 years. Only had to get rid of it because we moved from AZ to ND and the heat of AZ did a job on the seals. Stay away from saturn. I had an accident with one in the winter and the entire door shattered because the skin of the car is made from some kind of polymer. I wouldn’t feel safe. Hybrid’s are more expensive, but you get a tax break for owning one (not sure how much though). I agree with they waiting till 2005’s are on sale. They are already starting with the 0% financing up here. I was a loan officer, so let me say this. Get the dealer to run the numbers on both 0 financing and, if offered, any cash incentives. Sometimes the 0% payment is higher monthly, but in the end you save a great deal of money, which may make the car more valuable to trade in or sell when the time comes.

  4. I currenty have a Civic and I love it. It is a great car. I know this story will sound a little weird, but here goes…I have had 3 of them. I totaled the first 2 and walked away without a scratch. The first one I was rear ended at 80mph (I was stopped) and slammed into a wall. The second one I flipped on the Interstate. I only had minor bruising and the car held up well. I would highly recommend a Civic to anyone.
