I finally got around to enrolling Princess in obedience school. We’ve only been to two classes, and so far we haven’t learned too much I don’t already know. However it is things she needs work on, like sitting when she’s told and walking on a leash properly. I really need to work with her on these commands, as I don’t want to get behind when we get to more advanced commands. She is a smart dog, and she learns quickly. However she soon becomes bored with playing “come” and “sit” and looks at me as if to say “I don’t want to play that game anymore.”

Today we played “Pass the puppy” to see how well our dogs would do in the care of others. As predicted, she listened to everyone else just wonderfully, and they all told me what a great dog she was. I wish she’d listen to me! I’m usually the last person she listens to. ARG!

Even if she doesn’t do too hot, I can take what I’ve learned and use it to train the new puppy come fall. I’m going to work hard with the new puppy and not let him or her get away with murder, which Princess often does because she’s just so cute.

  1. Dogs are just like kids. They will always listen to someone else!! I have a 3 mo. Siberian Husky pup who just started puppy school, by the time he is done being nosey its almost time to go. Thunder also gives me the “I’m not playing this anymore” look after about 5 mins. of practice at home. Good luck with Princess and the new puppy!!

  2. When I was little we had a german shepard siberian mix. She was the most beautiful dog ever! I loved her, but she died from nose cancer 🙁 I still miss her and would love to find another dog of that mix.
