Well today is finally coming to an end, thankfully. Waking up this morning I had EVERY intention of exercising. I had already planned to both roller blade and do some Dance Dance Revolution. I’d like to get to the gym, but I have a cut on my hand and foot and well, I’m a germaphobe. Well exercise was not in the forecast for today. Shortly after waking up I was hit by a little stomach bug, probably because I did not eat so well yesterday. Actually the only thing I really ate yesterday was Cheesecake Factory food, which will do it to you because it’s so rich. Yes I bailed on the diet after stressing all day over the server/blog issues I encountered. Later in the day the whole Nikko accident/incident happened, so that combined with the stomach thing, well I didn’t get too much done at all today. I had already made plans with Emily to see “Devil Wears Prada” this evening and I didn’t want to bail. Plus I have wanted to see the film since it opened 😉 Basically today ended up being a wash as far as anything productive goes.

For those who haven’t yet seen, the movie was a really cute film, completely and totally predictable, but cute. Meryl Streep makes this movie, you just sit there in amazement saying to yourself “Oh no she didn’t!” Two thumbs up for this movie! Tomorrow I had tentative plans to see “Pirates 2” with Jen, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to go. Yes I want to go, but I have work to make up for today as well as that pesky paper abstract to write after agreeing to present my work at a conference in November. I told the guy organizing the session at this conference that I would do my best to have it to him by Monday, even though he only specified he needed it this coming week. With New Orleans starting Friday and Madonna on Wednesday, I’m not going to have time to do it this week. It needs to get done this weekend. Honestly most of it is already written in my head, I just have to put it on paper (always the hard part).

Finally I leave you with some bathroom talk I over heard at the theater. Picture it . . . you walk into the men’s room and two late twenties perhaps early thirties guys are standing at the urinals doing their business and having a conversation (this is not sexual for any of you dirty freakies out there!). As usual when people are talking in the bathroom, I have to listen. I am one of those people that feels you should be silent while doing your business. Well they were obviously seeing “Pirates” as this one guy was going on about some special he watched on pirates. He told his friend, no joke, that “Pirates were really mean and violent in real life, like real bastards. They weren’t anything like they are in the movies.”

I really had a hard time not looking at the guy and just saying “Are you seriously that stupid?”

  1. I agree about DWP; Streep was wonderful! Good luck getting those thoughts on paper. You’ll be great. :0)

  2. Just thought I would warn you – Pirates 2 is not so geat! There are so many subplots in the movie, it’s hard to understand. I loved the first one, but the second one I could have been sooo much better!!
