Hey there! Just found your blog and I am so glad I did. Dude, you're awesome, bro! Seriously. I'll be adding you to my blogroll and visiting regularly. Let me say for the record that early this morning (at 12:05 a.m.) five of my "gal pals" went with me to see "Mamma Mia!" and we all had a freakin' blast! I have seen the stage show, are you ready for this, 16 - yes SIXTEEN - times since 2001. So needless to say, I was a bit more than geeked about this movie opening. And contrary to a few negative reviews I've read from gay bros who evidently don't appreciate musical theater as much as I (we) do, the movie was pretty terrific. Sure, there were some missing elements, but Meryl definitely kicked ass playing Donna. Yeah, Pierce could have been a bit stronger vocally, but he wasn't horrible. All of the characters told the same story, albeit with a bit more elaboration. I would have been happier if they had stayed a bit more true to the original score and included the funky overture in the opening credits. I think it would have been a more fitting way to begin the movie as opposed to just having Sophie in the boat going straight into "I Have A Dream." I also agree with you that cutting "Under Attack" was disappointing. That is one of my favorite moments from the stage play. All in all, however, this is definitely a great movie and one that I will be seeing several times (going again tonight with more friends actually) before the summer is over. I'm sure the DVD will have a lot of extras so I'll just be patient until it comes out. Enjoy yourself...I am confident you will. Look forward to hearing your thoughts after seeing it!

P.S. I also agree with you about "Hairspray." The movie fuckin' ROCKED! If you liked that, you'll love "Mamma Mia!" Take care man!

I just saw an advance screening. You will love it! I was disappointed by the absence of "The Name of the Game"; I love that song and its role in the musical. "Our Last Summer" was a great scene in the movie, probably my favorite.

omg am so excited for this too!!! I don't know about that Wikipedia bit, as anyone and their dog could update that if they wanted to. Seeing as you have the actual soundtrack, I'd be more likely to trust your predictions... and if that's the case, i'm totally disapointed they didn't put Chiquitita and Knowing Me Knowing You in it, as those were two of my favourite numbers from the show! And S.O.S. makes me bawl during the show!!! let's hope the movie will be awesome!!! It looks great!
